minus the kart (but that's coming next weekend---what'd I say yesterday?).

Go-Karting

Saturday, March 24, 2012 No comments
I am happy to report that there were no unfortunate events at go-karting this afternoon. We are all back in one piece.

Chloe came from diving to the track. Her diving practice today was at West Point Academy. They apparently have an amazing pool. She dove from the 3m platform for the first time.

The go-kart track was busy today but Chloe got track time to herself with her instructor Tim. Chloe also got her first go-karting apparel--we bought her a bright pink track suit.

Now on to the rest of the pictures....

The next four photos are of Chloe and Tim, her instructor and the owner of the track.

Chloe on track by herself. She is in a kid kart, which is raced by kids until age 9. Its the introductory kart. The next level is Cadet Kart which is raced by kids 8-13 and is pretty hard core. We're not ready to let Chloe take on Cadet just yet.

Matt got on course in Tim's kart. This made me totally nervous as there were a bunch of guys out on the track and it was all testosterone, spin outs and lots of speed.

Oliver watched from the grandstands and enjoyed picking up discarded bottles and throwing them in the trash. (He's kind of a neat freak that one.)

I predict by the end of the summer we will own a kart. I'm assuming this because Matt told me this evening that we needed to trade our RV in for a toy-hauler RV. What could he want to haul in it I wonder?

Bad Things Happen in Threes?

Apparently they happen in fours around here. It began on Thursday when I attempted to drive the Porsche and backed it into the garage. Nice dent. Thankfully I have an understanding husband who knew how stupid I felt and didn't rub it in anymore. Then Friday, the computer crashed when I was loading CDs into iTunes. It deleted about 4 hours of work. And today, Oliver accidentally dropped the iPad down the stairs and destroyed it just before he went outside and stuck his foot under the closing garage door. His foot is too small to set off the sensors which keep it from closing all the way. Luckily his foot is fine and he has learned a lesson--I hope.
The iPad didn't survive the drop down the stairwell. You can see the screen is broken. Oliver was more upset about the iPad than his foot.

Here's hoping for a great weekend without further incident(s).
Recovering from the garage door incident. Other than being shocked and surprised, he is fine.

We're off to go-kart. The outdoor race track is open!! I am hoping that we aren't tempting fate....

Potty Training

"No, I don't need to pee in the potty. I already pee'd in my pants!"

I've heard that three times this morning. So far the score is:

UNDERWEAR 3 (plus a poo)
POTTY 0

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

Spring!!

I hope I would never look a gift horse in the mouth. That's why I am not complaining about the lovely spring weather we are having UNLIKE some people. I had my hair highlighted refreshed yesterday and my stylist has a huge clientele that stop in for a wash and blow out weekly, which means the place is always packed and always full of gossip. There is never getting around that I have my hair made more blonde because I always see someone I know in the salon. Yesterday's "salon gossip" was the weather and the number of women complaining about the weather was amazing. Tomorrow is supposed to be a record-setting 80+ degrees and half the women in the salon were totally pissed off about it because they believe it means we are in for one hot summer.

I for one am pleased as punch. Eighty degrees in March? I'll take it and the lovely sunshine that comes with it. If it means a hot, hot summer, I'll take it too. I believe these same women were the ones complaining that we would have a super-cold winter after we got snow on Halloween weekend. Didn't happen. Never look a gift horse in the mouth. Enjoy it while you can!

I'll even take the spring allergies (made easier by Allegra D). But this little guy is not liking the allergies so much. We recovered from the bronchitis/pneumonia episodes, twice.  His 2012 has been spent with a constant cough and runny nose. The humidifier may never leave his room.
Oliver relaxing on the couch sporting a crusty, runny nose. He's pretty grouchy today, so he's watching cartoons and being comforted by my charging iPhone.

Oliver also fell again on the playground at pre-school yesterday and has a large knot on his forehead. We may never have Easter pictures this year unless he learns to slow down!

Spring also means changing up the decor. I'm eager to work in the yard, but know that because it is warm doesn't mean that we can't have a frost still. The spring plantings will have to wait another couple of weeks. In the meantime, I made a new wreath, completely snagged the idea off Pinterest.
Super-easy and I think it's super-cute.

Seen & Heard

I went downstairs to put another load of laundry in the wash and to move a load of laundry to the dryer. Oliver stayed upstairs and as I went down the steps I could hear the sound of Legos being dumped out.

I came upstairs about 10 minutes later to find these two structures-

I told Oliver, "Wow! Did you build your fire station?" and he replied, "Yes! I was bored and was looking for something to do."

33 months old tomorrow. Can you believe his vocabulary and ability to express himself!?

Lovely Weather!!!

We're enjoying lots of sunshine and time outside. Twenty degrees above normal in March is a-ok with me and I'm pretty sure Oliver & Chloe are fine with it too.

Cars Cr*ocs--Oliver is very in to Cars the movie right now.

Warm Weather Brings Boo-Boos

Its 74 degrees and sunny which means we get to play outside for most of the day and we have lots of falls while playing.

Fell on bicycle after school--

Fell on the pre-school playground and didn't try to soften the fall--

Ouch!

Edited to add: Oliver got sent home from pre-school for his scrape on his nose the next day. The photo above was taken only an hour after his fall. Today it looked much better but it's in a location where a band-aid can't easily be placed and the pre-school has a rule that you can't have any uncovered wounds. The pre-school called me to tell me Oliver had a "oozing wound on his nose" to which I replied, "Its not oozing, it's Neosporin." The phone was silent and the director told me I had to come get him because they wiped the Neosporin off. I bet that went well. So, little man and I played Le*gos and with playdoh all morning and delivered G*irl Sc*out cookies. Way more fun than having someone chase you with a tissue to wipe your non-oozing nose.

We have a third of The Village People-- the cowboy and the cop.
