Block Party

Sunday, October 01, 2006
Today was our block party for our street. The neighborhood came out in full force for a nice afternoon in the middle of our street. There was a bounce house and people brought their grills out for cooking hamburgers and hot dogs. It was fun to meet the neighbors.

Chloe went ape for the bounce house. She was the youngest child that wanted to bounce, so that meant all the older kids had to vacate when she was inside. Needless to say this didn't make the other kids too happy. Chloe was not please when she had to exit for the older kids to jump. She would kick and scream and cry and try to claw her way back inside as Matt and I pulled on her legs. She finally realized that when it was time for her to leave that she could crawl to the back of the house when no one could get her. This forced me to enter the bounce house and pull her out. It was really funny watching Chloe in the bounce house. She kept trying to do flips thanks to her new gymnastics class we have been taking. All in all, she had a good time but in the end it wore both her and us out.

On another note, Chloe and I have also started a Mandarin Mommy and Me class once a week. Classes just began a week ago. Interestingly enough, the NY Times featured an article in this Saturdays edition about Chinese language learning for pre-schoolers and her school was featured. You can read the article here.
